Warehouse Maintenance & Commercial Driver
Role Overview: The Warehouse Maintenance / Commercial Driver is a dual-role position responsible for the safe and timely delivery and pick-up of goods, as well as maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and basic functionality of the warehouse facility and grounds. This role requires a combination of driving skill, physical labor, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Commercial Driving & Logistics (Approx. 60%):
- Operate commercial vehicles ([Cargo Van with trailer]) to transport products and materials to and from customer locations, vendors, and other company sites.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections on all assigned vehicles, documenting any defects or issues immediately.
- Maintain accurate and current driver logs, fuel receipts, and all required company paperwork.
- Safely load and unload materials using appropriate equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jack), ensuring cargo is properly secured to prevent damage
- Verify shipping documents and obtain customer signatures upon delivery.
- Communicate proactively with the Warehouse Manager or Dispatch regarding delivery schedules, delays, or issues.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal traffic and DOT regulations, including speed limits, vehicle weight, and hours of service.
Warehouse Maintenance & Support (Approx. 40%):
- Perform general maintenance tasks and minor repairs around the warehouse and office areas, including but not limited to:
- Basic plumbing and electrical tasks (e.g., replacing light bulbs/fixtures, unclogging toilets).
- Minor carpentry and drywall repair (e.g., patching walls, fixing shelving).
- Painting, floor repair, and general upkeep of the facility interior.
- Maintain and organize the outdoor property and grounds (e.g., snow removal, light landscaping, trash removal).
- Operate and perform preventative maintenance checks on warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and company tools. Report major equipment issues to the supervisor.
- Ensure the warehouse is kept clean, safe, and organized, performing general housekeeping duties (e.g., sweeping, mopping, cleaning restrooms).
- Assist with inventory management tasks, including cycle counting, receiving, stocking, and preparing orders for shipment when not driving.
- Comply with all company safety policies and OSHA standards.
Qualifications:
- A clean driving record with no major violations in the last 3-5 years.
- Proven work experience as a Truck Driver and/or Maintenance Worker.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and general knowledge of facility maintenance, hand tools, and equipment.
- Ability to operate a forklift and other material handling equipment (certification preferred or required upon hire).
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check, and participate in random drug and alcohol testing as required by DOT regulations.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50-75 pounds frequently.
- Must be able to walk, stand, climb, stoop, bend, crouch, and kneel for extended periods.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments (warehouse, outdoor yard, vehicle cab).
- Required to sit for extended periods while driving.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 2+ years of commercial driving experience
- 1+ year of general maintenance or handyman experience
