Harmony by Design: AVM Group’s New HQ Protects Lowcountry Landscape While Supporting Future Community Spaces

At AVM Group, we believe that the best controlled environments aren’t just the ones we build inside our walls. They include the natural environments we protect outside of them. We are thrilled to officially announce the establishment of our national headquarters on Wingo Way in Mount Pleasant. This $5 million investment represents more than just a new office; it is a commitment to the South Carolina community and the beautiful landscape we now call home.

A Footprint Focused on Preservation

When we looked at the 10-acre site along the marsh, our first priority wasn’t how much we could build, but how much we could save. Working closely with teams at McMillan Pazdan Smith and Hussey Gay Bell, we designed a state-of-the-art, 12,000-square-foot facility that occupies less than three-quarters of an acre of upland area. By intentionally condensing our physical footprint, we are able to:

• Protect the Canopy: Ensure minimal disturbance to the site’s old-growth trees.
• Safeguard the Wetlands: Leave over 9 acres of jurisdictional wetlands and critical areas entirely untouched.
• Sustainable Integration: Protect the site’s environmental integrity by combining low-impact construction methods and pervious parking materials with strategic setbacks. The design will feature sustainable, low-carbon building materials and high-efficiency systems to minimize the overall ecological footprint.

One Team, Two Hubs: Our Ohio Legacy

While we look forward to our future on Wingo Way, AVM Group remains deeply rooted in the place where our story began: Cleveland, Ohio.

Founded in 1983, our Cleveland facility will remain The Central Hub of Operations and Manufacturing. The expertise, craft, and dedication of our Ohio team made this expansion possible. As we establish our South Carolina hub for design, engineering, and R&D, our Cleveland operations will continue to be the engine that powers our manufacturing and logistical excellence. Together, these two locations allow us to provide a seamless, turn-key experience for our clients across the country.

Giving Back to our Neighbors

We don’t just want to work in Mount Pleasant. We want to contribute to the lifestyle that makes the Lowcountry special. By intentionally condensing our physical

footprint to less than three-quarters of an acre, we have preserved the vast majority of our 10-acre site as untouched natural space.

To support our local community, AVM Group has granted right-of-way access on the undeveloped portion of our property to the township. This cooperative effort paves the way for the township to develop and fund future public amenities, including a waterfront trail and a public pocket park, providing a peaceful space for residents to connect with the local scenery. As Mount Pleasant Mayor Will Haynie noted, this project brings “quality jobs and meaningful private investment while incorporating thoughtful design and environmental considerations”.
